Status of the given gean version: VERSION 02-01

1. Since the same geometry may be valid for different Arte-releases
the geo subdirectory is taken out of the $HBVERS
directory and put directly under $HB, i.e.$HB/geo/SVD ...
So if geometry changes are given without changing the code, they
are possible with a frequency of few minutes, i.e. without "waiting"
for a new ARTE-release.

2. Nearly all ascii file names with geometry input
are now given within the gversxxxxxx.dat file - so different
geometries can be accessed by the code without changing the code
itself.
At the moment there exist
gvers000801.dat with the design geometry
gvers981117.dat with 98 geometry, latest changes included;
gvers980802.dat with the 98 geometry (mid november)
gvers980801.dat with the 98 geometry (full MC01 and MC02)
Other will follow. All these files are in geo/GVERS.
In $HB/geo/GVERS there is a README file which gives
informations about about the differences between the different versions.

3. At geometry generation time NEDE (nominal GEDE) banks are
installed and stored in the .geo files. When running gean (tracing
of tracks) or reading geometry data from .geo files the NEDE banks are
copied into GEDE banks, so except for pure geometry creation the user
has always to do with GEDE banks. Note however that in the geansim.kumac
files the commands must be
MMWRIT GEOMOUT NGHD instead of MMWRIT GEOMOUT GEHD

4. The command DETV should be only used, if someone wants to exclude
a subdetector type completely (former SIDU ... MUDU). In all other
cases the short/long version is automatically connected with the
version number via the gversxxxx.dat file.

5. Magnet off/on can be controlled by a card 'MAGNET ON' or 'MAGNET
OFF' within the .kumac file (before the GEAN command)

6.The introduction of database is postponed at the moment.

7.Due to increasing complexity of the detector and the request from
some subdetectors to have modules (intermediate volumina between GESL
and GEDE) it happened, that in some cases the table informations
GEDE_LAY, GEDE_SEC and MIMP_GEDE were packed with the original values
in the lower half of the word. Meanwhile another solution has been found,
so that now GEDE_SEC and GEDE_LAY are reduced to its original meaning.

7. In ARTE a spherical shell segment is accepted as a possible geometrical
shape.

9. The production of mimps in the Rich is reduced with effectivity cuts.

10. Some bugs have been corrected, in some cases the structure of the
code has been improved.

11. The version has been tested on linux and hydra together with digi.
